Bluesky gives users the opportunity to post, reply and message other users on a vertical interface. A growing number of politicians are using the platform. At the time of writing, Bluesky had 30 million users.
It officially launched in February 2024 and began as an invite-only app with three million users. Bluesky said organisations were reporting a two to 10 times increase in the level of engagement they experienced on the app, according to the app's 2024 in review report.
The app also includes the ability to find people or organisations to follow by using starter packs. These offer curated lists focused on certain topics. There is an option to follow all or select which accounts to follow from the list, e.g. UK MPs 2024, which can help you to build your profile if you have moved from another social media platform.
